As a member of the St. Louis Missouri Fur Company's expedition of 1809-10 to the headwaters of the Missouri he was one of the first Americans to traverse this then remote… area; and as a trader to Santa Fe and to the Comanche Indians in the years 1821-23 he was again one of the first Americans to traverse and describe the southwestern area extending from St. Louis to Santa Fe." - Historical Introduction. I agree with Quaife's comment on one of James' encounters with the Comanche Indians, "Hollywood at its best can scarcely improve upon this real life story." The book has neither wear nor defects. It will be sent to you well packed in a box.
