Delightful little book, almost 100 years old, but still remarkably useful and the plentiful small vignettes by Hugh Thomson very pretty. The old Kent has been larely wrecked and ransacked, but there are still lovely and interstingly obscure laces to visit.

Contemporary signature to top of front free end paper. Detailed descriptions of the landscape and settlements, both large and small, in Kent, nostalgic but of relevance today, includes details of hops and hopping and much local history. An excellent copy of this fascinating title. 8vo.

This copy is bound in original blue linen covered boards with gilt titling to the front and to the spine which is sunned. A dustwrapper is not present. An evocative guide book originally published in 1907 of the county traditionally known as 'the garden of england' faithfully recording words and picture the architecture and landscape of Kent at the turn of the century. Many of the buildings are, alas, long gone and with them some of the colour and pastimes of the residents. Ref U2.
