Bob Kellow was a member of the Royal Air Force No. 50 Squadron and No. 617 Squadron, better known as the 'Dambusters. ' He was on board the Lancaster Bomber that dropped the bomb that destroyed the Eder Dam in May, 1943. Forced to parachute out over Northern Holland later that year, Kellow spent 12 weeks eluding German forces. He escaped through Holland, Belgium, France and over the Pyrennes Mountains to Spain and Gibraltar, and finally back to England.
