A typographically refined anthology tracing the history and character of Marlborough and its surrounding countryside from the fifteenth century onward, bringing together a wide range of historical and literary sources. The basis of the book was E. G. H. Kempson's series of talks on the history of Marlborough given at the town library, with an added selection of prose and poems connected to the town.
