Major theme of the book is on energy and environmental issues considered as two sides of the same coin. The resource energy is obtained from environmental resources and used in different economic sectors in carrying out various economic activities. Production of energy (both renewable and non renewable) could directly deplete the environmental resources and indirectly pollute the biosphere which includes lithosphere hydrosphere and atmosphere. Consumption of energy especially non renewable could create environmental damage and degradation and the net result is environmental pollution such as land pollution water pollution air pollution space pollution marine pollution etc. Thus production and consumption of energy deplete the valuable environmental and ecological resources and capitulate the damages to the environment. The drift of depletion of the environmental resources affects the present as well as future generations our children's children and questions their survival and sustainability which threatens our Mother Earth. These give birth to the concept sustainable development in the national and international arena. With this background the authors have taken a sincere effort to assemble and collate selected papers which echoed the major theme of the book on energy and environment. 194 pp.

The absorptions were observed at 252 nm (isobestic point) and 295 nm ( max of NEV), which were selected based on overlapping spectra of AML and NEV. The linearity range of the UV method was found to be 3-7 µg/ml at 252 nm for AML (r2=0.9995±0.0005) and 295 nm for NEV (r2=0.9985±0.0012). HPTLC method was developed with silica gel GF TLC Plate. Chloroform-Methanol-Glacial acetic acid (75.8:21.6:2.6) was used as a diluent. The spot after the chromatogram was identified in UV and Iodine chamber. The linearity range of HPTLC method was found to be 5-25 µg/ml for AML (r2=0.9994) and 295 nm for NEV (r2=0.999). Recovery study of UV and HPTLC methods were performed to confirm the accuracy of the methods. The methods were validated as per ICH guidelines. The methods were found to be simple, precise, accurate and rapid for the simultaneous determination of AML and NEV in bulk and tablet dosage form. 92 pp. Englisch.
