This book establishes the taxonomy of the colubrid snake genus Tantilla and provides thorough descriptions of six species belonging to it, forming part of the melanocephala group. The author's examination of museum specimens and fresh collections led to the description of three new species and identification of a fourth previously named but unrecognized species. The research reveals intriguing patterns of species distribution and evolution within the group. It is a definitive text for herpetologists, taxonomists, and evolutionary biologists with an interest in the Tantilla genus and Neotropical snakes.
