Der Band enthält einerseits Arbeiten, die als Dissertation an der Universität Zürich einzureichen geplant war, zum anderen Aufsätze aus dem Grenzgebiet zwischen Philosophie und Judaistik. Insgesamt ergibt sich ein sehr guter Überblick über das Schaffen von Erdös, das immer wieder um Aristoteles, Spinoza, Kant und insbesondere Hegel kreiste, aber auch von der Dialektik Gershom Scholems fasziniert war, wovon hier zwei Aufsätze zur Kabbala zeugen.Ernst ERDÖS, geb. am 5. Februar 1919 in Wien (heimatberechtigt in Hódmezó-Vásárhely/Ungarn, Staatsbürgerschaft: Ungarn), Sohn von Philipp Erdös (Kaufmann, Juwelier), wohnte in Wien 8, Langegasse 67/16. Nach der Reifeprüfung in Wien begann er ein Studium an der Universität Wien. Er war zuletzt im Wintersemester 1937/38 an der Philosophischen Fakultät im 1. Studiensemester inskribiert und belegte Vorlesungen in Chemie, Physik und Mathematik (Abgangszeugnis vom 13. April 1938).Nach dem "Anschluss" Österreichs 1938 emigrierte Erdös über Berlin in die Schweiz, wo er sein Chemiestudium an der ETH Zürich fortsetzte. Er arbeitete als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in der Elektroindustrie. Aufgrund seines Engagements für die trotzkistisch-kommunistische Bewegung wurde er 1940 verhaftet und im Folgejahr gemeinsam mit 12 weiteren Personen angeklagt. 1942 wurde er dank dem Einsatz seines Anwalts Dr. Veit Wyler mangels Beweisen freigesprochen. Er distanzierte sich von der trotzkistischen Bewegung und trat der Schweizer Sozialdemokratischen Partei bei.Seine Mutter wurde 1944 im KZ Auschwitz [Oswiecim/Polen] ermordet, sein Vater überlebte den Holocaust in Budapest/Ungarn.Nach der Pensionierung begann Erdös ein Studium der Geschichte und Philosophie an der Universität ZürichErnst Erdös starb 1998 in Zürich. 1100 gr.
