Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. Volume II also includes the then logo of the publisher on the spine. Vol I is lighter in color than Vol 2 due to changes in publishing practices between 1939 and 1962 or fading or both. Both volumes have soiling on the ends of the bottom text block edges, and one corner of Vol 1 is bumped (see image). The volume matches exactly with the 1962 second volume and I believe this to be much closer to the actual date for Volume I. Both volumes as new. Also, Volume II comes with a dust jacket.
