The San Francisco Chronicle described the company as "one of the legendary names of Silicon Valley" and noted that its Bay Area operations were a training ground for the engineers who went on to found Intel and other top semiconductor companies.The authors write: "The purpose of the study was to investigate the characteristics of linear photodiode arrays, in order to determine how useful the devices would be in measuring photographic densities. Breadboard electronics and an optical bench were configured to permit laboratory testing of selected units, and the resultant data has been analyzed with respect to specific instrument applications.".
