(3) The top corners are ligh…tly bumped. This is an "acceptable to good" reading copy of the original 1936 publication. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. Maroon cloth with gilt stamping to spine; light rubbing to boards with spine ends bumped. Faintly speckled muted dark purple top edge; some toning to for…e-edge; light foxing/toning to illustrated endpapers; a few scattered instances of foxing to interior pages which, overall, remain clean. Binding is firm. A very good copy. With Introduction by Clayton H. Ernest, Foreword by Richard Danielson, and eight color plates (including frontispiece) on unpaged leaves plus b/w vignette illustrations amongst text all by Roland V. Shutts.
