Presentation copy of the first Rebeats edition, inscribed to Charlie Watts, the drummer of the Rolling Stones, on the first blank, "For Mr. Watts, with respect and appreciation, Mr. Bonzai. 2006." This copy remained in Watts's wide-ranging library until his death; his posthumous bookplate is on the inside front cover. Watts first met Blaine in 1964 backstage at the T.A.M.I. Show, in which the Wrecking Crew backed many of the acts and the Stones performed an explosive set. Loosely inserted is an autograph note signed from Blaine thanking Watts for "a great get-together", likely a reference to Blaine's 90th birthday party, held in February 2019 at the Baked Potato jazz club in Studio City. Also present are four photographs of a model car, provided to Watts by Howard Karslake, Ronnie Wood's father-in-law, and an autograph letter signed to Watts from the drummer Jim Karstein. Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew was first published by Mixbooks in 1990 and reprinted in 1993. For this edition, Mr. Bonzai wrote a new preface that describes Blaine's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Blaine was in the first group of sidemen to receive this honour. Octavo. Illustrations in text. Original illustrated wrappers, spine and front cover lettered in gilt and white. Front cover bowed: near-fine.…
