"Moll Flanders", he claims, "is the fountainhead of the vast flood of what we have come to call novels. There had been nothing like it before." The text used here is that of the first edition which has hitherto been very difficult to obtain; Dr. Herbert Davis contributes a note on it.' [Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper] ***A first printing in this edition, with a new introduction by Bonamy Dobrée, complete in its original dustwrapper, with drawing designed by Mervyn Peake. A nice quality production of this famous work of English literature. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Mervyn Peake [Jacket design] (illustrateur).

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Hardcover. 8vo. Published by Southern Illinois University Press, Carbondale, Illinois, 1968. 268 pgs. First, thus. DJ has light shelf-wear present to the DJ extremities. Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No… ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The force and beauty of H. D. s prose brings the stories in Palimpsest brightly to life, particularly in her sense of place: Rome about 75 B. C. , post-World War I London and Egypt at the time of the Tutankhamon tomb excavations. The use of the palimpsest motif gives the reader the impression that one story has been superimposed on the other ad that the protagonist is always the same woman -in essence H. D. Herself. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. One of 50 Arabic-numbered copies signed by the author (of 85). 8vo. Wrappers in dust jacket with title label affixed. Unpaginated (12pp. + frontispiece). Printed by Alan Anderson at the Tragara Press. 'Here, from c. 1936, published for the first time, is… a transitional poem on the cusp of that conscious thrust, following his growing dissatisfaction with Surrealism, to find a different kind of language.' Head edge just a little spotted and with a moderate bump to the spine head, echoed by the jacket, which has slight glue residue around the label, but generally crisp and a rather striking production. A compliments slip from the publisher to Andrew Crozier is loosely inserted. Signed by Author(s).
