She wrote poetry and a crit…ical biography of Kate O'Brien with whom she was a good friend. At UCD among her contemporaries were Flann O'Brien, Mary Lavin, Cyril Cusack. Among her European colleagues were Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and others. She was a good cook and a frequent visitor to Italy.
