This volume explores the innovative potential of using waste heat from thermal power generation and waste minerals from domestic sewage, pollutants currently affecting rivers and coastal waters, as resources in aquaculture. The proposal for this expert discussion came from Dr. Ole Devik and was supported by the Special Program Panel on Eco-Sciences, a subsidiary of the NATO Science Committee. The book outlines the efforts to turn pollutants into productive resources and provides context on NATO's scientific and environmental initiatives, which date back to its efforts in the 1950s to foster nonmilitary collaboration among member nations.
