Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the historical context of the 1656 Cumin, a pivotal event in the political and religious landscape of the Surselva region of Switzerland. The Cumin was an assembly where local figures debated issues of governance and the role of religious institutions in society, with a particular focus on the relationship between the Catholic Church and the local community. The author presents a detailed analysis of the motivations, conflicts, and consequences that shaped this tumultuous period, drawing from a wealth of historical sources, including official documents, personal letters, and ecclesiastical records. The book offers insights into the power dynamics between religious and secular authorities, the impact of religious beliefs on political decision-making, and the interplay between local customs and external influences. Ultimately, the book provides a nuanced understanding of the Cumin, shedding light on the complex relationship between church and state in 17th-century Switzerland.
