21 x 14cm. Paperback, 56pp. Well-produced artists' book with illustrations, many of which are tipped-in and in colour. Short introductory text in English by Maureen Olga Paley, with slightly longer German text by Roger Willemsen. Includes a loose exhibition invite card bearing a handwritten address, in German, and the book's front endpaper is inscribed (but not signed) to a collector in an unknown hand (possibly either the artist, or a contributor). Rare. Copac locates one copy only at UAL, London. Michaela Melian is an artist and musician known for her multimedia installations, radio plays and sound work. She is co-founder of the band F.S.K. who took their name from the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft film age-rating organisation. The band members were also contributors and editors for underground magazine Mode und Verzweiflung [Fashion and Despair], and the group became associated with the avant-garde fringes of the German New Wave of the early 1980s, and later with techno and house music. Much of Melian's artwork deals with themes of German Nazism and its aftereffects. Covers a little sunned, otherwise very good condition. …

Etat : Gut. 2 cards, each 20.5*14.5 cm, 1 copy from Time Out Magazin, 1984, p. 83, 1 blank letterhead from Interim Art, Director: Maureen O. Paley. Good, clean copies. On the Time Out page, the Interim Art advert featuring DogWorks is highlighted in colour. - From the text on Time Out: Artist Maureen 0.Paley (above) has opened up her East End home as a gallery (interim Art) that will present four or five mixed shows a year, each based on a theme. This welcome initiative begins with Dogwork, the perfect theme for a stylish British send-up with everyone rising to the occasion. Edward Allington produces the obligatory pile of plastic turds heaped in a gilded urn while Sophie Ryder's wondrous wire hound pisses on the skirting board. Wladyslaw Kasprzyk's 'Last Supper' is a canine feast of matchbox proportions; Helen Chadwick's fetishistic dog kennel and bone, covered in photographic cat fur and genitals, is a potently oppressive piece. Stuart Brisley's 'The Market Force' presents the bloated corpse of capitalism, Denis Masi Its watchdogs. But the star of this splendid show is inevitably William Wegman's 'Man Ray' seen on video watching tennis. A monstrous array of canine postcards is available while 5 per cent of any sales goes to the Battersea Dogs' Home. Congratulations on this beautifully presented, witty and intelligent show. (Sarah Kent).- Wikipedia: Maureen Paley (born 1953) is the American owner of a contemporary art gallery in Bethnal Green, London, where she lives. Initially named Interim Art, the gallery was renamed Maureen Paley in 2004 as a celebration of its 20th anniversary. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 250.…
