Palazzo Strozzi, iniziato nel 1489 da Benedetto da Maiano, è uno dei vertici dell'architettura del Rinascimento e rappresenta un… notevole esempio di committenza rinascimentale, in quanto voluto da Filippo Strozzi come residenza che desse nome alla famiglia. È tuttora un vivo centro della cultura fiorentina e ospita illustri istituzioni come il Gabinetto G.P. Vieusseux, l'Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento, l'Istituto di Scienze Umane. Storica è anche la vocazione a ospitare mostre d'arte, iniziata negli anni Cinquanta con la Galleria Strozzina e proseguita con le recenti importanti esposizioni curate da Firenze Mostre, altra istituzione che ha sede nel palazzo.
