Magnifico esemplare. Nella seconda metà del cinquecento Etienne Du Pérac, grande architetto francese nato a Parigi verso il 1525 visse alcuni anni a Roma, certamente tra il 1559 e il 1578, forse anche sino al 1582, e disegnò, fra l'altro, un gruppo di antichità romane. Questi finissimi disegni, corredati da un testo manoscritto compongono un Codice prezioso che, dopo lunghe vicende, è giunto a noi. I disegni, di altissima fattura, sono quarantasei, alcuni dei quali su doppia pagina, tutti racchiusi in cornici ornamentali di grande pregio e differenti fra loro. E' stata fatta una accurata trascrizione del testo, purtroppo parzialmente danneggiato, e dal tempo e da ignoti, pubblicato separatamente in un fascicolo. Di fondamentale interesse per gli studiosi della materia sarà l'introduzione del Prof. R. Wittkower, titolare della cattedra di Storia dell'Arte della Columbia University di New York, che da anni si occupa dei problemi architettonici dell'Italia e in particolare di Roma. Book. …
