Wright and his Asgard Press are chiefly remembered as the publisher of Carl Sandburg's very first book of… poetry (In Reckless Ecstasy, 1904). Philip Green Wright was Carl Sandburg?s teacher, mentor and early supporter. He was Sandburg's college professor at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois, where he taught economics and English. Although chiefly an economist Green played a pivotal role in Carl Sandburg's literary career and their friendship extended far beyond the classroom. The two poets remained lifelong friends.
