Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject Didactics - English - Pedagogy, Literature Studies, grade: 1,7, University of Marburg (Anglistik), course: New Media in Foreign Language Teaching, language: English, abstract: 1. IntroductionMusic videos are an important part of the lifestyle of many youths, they have been spreadover the whole world by the television channel MTV (Music Television)1 and they havebecome an essential aspect of the popular culture. Obviously, the Hessian curriculum hasrealized the importance of music videos: The topic 'Young People Exploring the World'('Jugendliche und ihre Welt') for 11th grade includes the sub-topic 'Culture and Media'('Kultur und Medien')2. This sub-topic deals with all sorts of pop culture, (music, videos, literature, advertisements, fashion, sports, etc.).Music videos are excellent for matters of foreign language education, they provideauthentic material3, which is a welcome variation for many pupils who are only used toartificial learning materials, and they are very interesting for pupils because they are part oftheir everyday life. Therefore, music videos provide a brilliant opportunity for the pupils todiscuss and analyse. Through thorough analysis of music videos, the pupils will becomeaware of how music videos are made and which impact they can have on us, and alsowhich ethical values they propagate (as well by the lyrics of the specific song as well bythe composition of the video itself) or in which ways they reflect our society. It is important that the pupils are allowed to choose their own music videos, because thenthey will be more motivated as if the videos were selected by the teacher. However, theteacher should become acquainted with the specific video before it is presented to theclass by the pupil because there are, of course, music videos, which are not suitable (forexample, because the content could be too violent or sexual to be presented in theclassroom or the video could be too long, it should not exceed 5 minutes for obviousreasons). For a fruitful analysis and discussion, the pupils need to do a bit of theory, the teachershould give a brief introduction to the basics of video-making, e.g. camera perspectives, cutting techniques, etc., so that the students understand that in a music video (just like in amovie) everything has a purpose and a certain effect on the spectator. Equipped with thisfundamental knowledge, the students are enabled to analyse their specific music video on their own and to present them to the class, and the rest of the class can discuss or addaspects which the presenter may not have found. In this termpaper, I will present an exemplary teaching unit. …

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Englisch - Literatur, Werke, Note: 2,0, Philipps-Universität Marburg (Amerikanistik), Veranstaltung: American War Literature, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 1. Introduction1.1 Topic statementMichael Herr s Dispatches and Tim O Brien s The Things they carried (I will use theabbreviation Things) are two well-known examples of Vietnam War Literature. Thingsapproaches the Vietnam War as a work of fiction . The author states in the beginning ofhis book: Except for a few details regarding the author s own life, all the incidents, namesand characters are imaginary . Critics refer Things to Postmodernism.Dispatches, however, is not fiction: Michael Herr covered the war for 2 years (1967-69)for the Esquire magazine and in 1978, the year of the publication, Dispatches wasnominated for the National Book Award for nonfiction (Bonn 28). The critics labelDispatches as New Journalism: Michael Herr s Dispatches is the work of a war correspondent, but it is not journalism in theordinary sense of the word, i.e. an objective, detached reporting of the facts . Instead it is awork of the so-called New Journalism, a hybrid form that, in typical postmodern fashion, blurstraditional genre distinctions. (.) The New Journalism abandons all pretense of impersonalobjectivity instead an intense, substituting subjectivity that (.) also employs such devices offiction as characterization, flashbacks and interior monologue (Carpenter 36/37).This term paper deals with the depiction of the Vietnam War in Dispatches and Things, with a special focus on the depiction of violence and the everyday life of the soldiers.Because of the fact that the books are different in style and narrative transmission, I willput briefly some emphasis on those aspects in the beginning.1.2 Thesis statementBoth writers depict the war without moral purposes, showing as well the negative featuresof the war (death, terror, fear, brutalization, deadening, etc.) as the properties of war whichcould be regarded as positive (a thrilling and seductive experience, comradeship, beauty / majesty of the war).…

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. (LINDENBERG, Waldorfschulen, S.56). …

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Englisch - Pädagogik, Didaktik, Sprachwissenschaft, Note: 2,7, Philipps-Universität Marburg (Anglistik), Veranstaltung: Morphology and Syntax, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 1. IntroductionThis termpaper deals with compounding, an important process of word formation.Ingo Plag wrote that compounding was the most productive type of word formation butalso the most controversial one, he forewarns his readers because compounding is a fieldof study where intricate problems abound, numerous issues remain unsolved andconvincing solutions are generally not so easy to find (Plag 2006, 132).Due to this high productivity, compounding can be regarded as the most fundamentalcomplex cognitive representations of the mental lexicon (Libben 2006, vi).Compounds are extremely widespread among the world s languages and representperhaps the easiest way to form a new cognitive representation from two or more existingones (Libben 2006, vi). Laurie Bauer claims that no known language is withoutcompounds, and in many languages compounds are the main type of a new lexeme (Bauer 1988, 33/34).This termpaper focuses on compounds and their properties including subcategories, productivity and the problems that can occur among compounds like questions of stressand categorization difficulties. The first part will deal with the definition of compounds, all the compound subcategoriesand also with productivity of compounds. In the second part, questions of stress and difficulties of categorization will be examined. …

The New Journalism abandons all pretense of impersonalobjectivity instead an intense, substituting subjectivity that (.) also employs such devices offiction as characterization, flashbacks and interior monologue (Carpenter 36/37).This term paper deals with the depiction of the Vietnam War in Dispatches and Things, with a special focus on the depiction of violence and the everyday life of the soldiers.Because of the fact that the books are different in style and narrative transmission, I willput briefly some emphasis on those aspects in the beginning.1.2 Thesis statementBoth writers depict the war without moral purposes, showing as well the negative featuresof the war (death, terror, fear, brutalization, deadening, etc.) as the properties of war whichcould be regarded as positive (a thrilling and seductive experience, comradeship, beauty / majesty of the war). 20 pp. Deutsch. …

20 pp. Deutsch. …

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Reformpädagogik, Note: 1,7, Philipps-Universität Marburg (Erziehungswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Reformpädagogische Alternativen zur Staatsschule, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 1. (LINDENBERG, Waldorfschulen, S.56). 16 pp. Deutsch.…
