Als der Orden 1773 aufgelöst wurde, verlor er seine Stelle. - 1749 war Johann Ignaz Wagner aus Augsburg mit der Bitte an den Freiburger Senat bzw. an den Jesuitenorden angetreten, "einen kleinen Bücherverlag zum Besten des Publici sowohl als besonders der hochlöblichen Universität anzulegen".
