Er entwickelte Methoden der Molekülmassenbestimmung in Flüssigkeiten und überprüfte ab 1903 die Atommassen für viele Elemente (wie Stickstoff, Chlor, Silber) mit genaueren Methoden. Seine Ergebnisse veröffentlichte er ab 1914. U. a. im 'Journal de Chimie Physique', das er 1903 mitbegründet hatte. Hier veröffentlichte er im Jahr 1917 Untersuchungsergebnisse, die sich vor allem mit der Präzisionsbestimmung von Atomgewichten und der physikalischen Chemie von Gasen befassten. Und hier waren seine Messungen zukunftsentscheidend: z. B. in der Pharmazie wurden exakte Medikamentendosierungen, in der Industrie exakte Mischverhältnisse machbar.
