Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Fair. 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION, McRaie Smith, 1927. HARD COVER, 6 1/4 by 8 in., SCARCE in dust jacket. Fairly solid red cloth hard cover, boards with water staining. Red staining from boards onto endpapers and dust jacket. Boards with fairly mild wear and some soiling. Hinge was slightly exposed at the front endpapers, we have reglued. Back hinge is exposed but holding. Dusr jacket is mostly intact with edge wear, some small corner chips and some closed tears, but had been torn completely along front hinge and chipped along the spine and taped. It looks much better in the fold-on Brodart cover that we have applied to protect the dust jacket. Charming illustration of two children blowing bubbles with a fairy trapped inside a bubble on the front of jacket. Water stain to top foredge has penetrated slightly into top of pages creating a faint stain, otherwise pages are fairly clean. Binding tight although boards are slightly loose. Newsprint. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. Augusta, ME: The Vickery & Hill Publishing Company, 1931. First Edition. Illustrations uncredited. Volume 47, No. 10. Newsprint with color cover and some bi-color within. 13" x 10 1/2", 30 pp plus covers. Age toning to the newsprint, some chips at perpiphery of covers, some soiling. A solid Very Good copy, with pages still supple. The now-scarce Augusta, Maine-based publication, focused on just what its title says: Good Stories. Lead and cover story in this issue is Roy Edward White's "Adrift", which appears to be a love/adventure story of a young flapper/aviatrix who crashes here craft without sustaining a scratch, from the illustrations. You could do that in the days of slow, light biplanes, of course. Other stories: Libbie Sprague Phillips' "The Wolrd's Judgment" ("I have no home.that is, no place that I dare claim for my home."; Arthur W. Patterson's mystery, "The Clothes-Pin Clue"; and what looks to be another mystery, Grace Canfield Freese's "A Matter of Inches" - all rather length tales, or so it appears. A plethora of interesting period ads compliment the stories, including one with several slections of dresses for the sartorially aware young flapper. In nice shape for newsprint piece of its age.
