Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Fair. 1st Edition. "THE DUMB WITNESS" by T. Arthur Plummer with its original dust jacket. 1936 1st American edition; The Macaulay Company; New York. The book is a detective mystery novel that follows Plummer's recurring protagonist, Detective-Inspector Andrew Frampton of Scotland Yard, as he attempts to solve a baffling case in a small, quiet English village. Frampton faces the difficult initial task of investigating and solving a murder where the victim's body has completely vanished. As he starts pulling on threads in the community, his investigation is complicated by a sudden second murder. Because of the isolated, tight-knit setting, Frampton is forced to cast a wide net of suspicion. Local suspects include the village vicar, the vicar's wife, the local doctor, and even the village policeman's sister. The story unfolds as a traditional "whodunit" procedural, with Frampton methodically vetting and eliminating suspects one by one to uncover the true culprit. Condition: Clean covers and spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are clean with no stains, writing, or foxing. Pages 16 & 17 have a tear at the inner edge 3" down from the top. Overall the book is in Very Good condition. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the price intact on the front flap; pieces missing at the top/bottom edges of the spine, and at the flap corners; light soiling to the back cover and spine; there are numbers written to the left of the title on the front cover.overall the jacket is in Fair condition. (The dust jacket comes with a clear, protective sleeve - not shown.). …
