Ajouter au panierUnpublished "Manuscript Edition." Folio. One of 221 numbered copies (the entire edition), this copy being unnumbered and marked "Out of Series." The unnumbered copies were used as review copies (a publisher's prospectus for the book is laid-in). According to publisher Matthew Bruccoli: "The printer spoiled the copies, and I destroyed them. I decided not to start over because by that time Ken (i.e. Ross Macdonald) was unable to sign copies." Through the years only a literal handful of copies, all unnumbered, have been encountered. Bound in patterned paper over boards with a giltstamped leather spine. Fine, unread copy with one leaf of the author's draft affixed to a preliminary page. This edition includes a final chapter that was not present in the original 1965 novel published by Knopf.
