Edward Bannerman Ramsay (1793-1872), usually referred to as Dean Ramsay, was a clergyman of the Scottish Episcopal Church, and Dean of Edinburgh in that communion from 1841. He is probably best known as the author of Reminiscences of Scottish Life and Character, which had gone through 22 editions at his death. The work is a collection of memoirs and reflections that delve into the cultural and social tapestry of Scotland, specifically highlighting the peculiar customs, humor, and daily lives of its people, informed by the author's personal experiences and historical observations. The book has been semi-professionally rebacked and recased in the original full leather boards and given a new leather spine.
