Mechanics of Solids is a basic engineering course that deals with the behaviour of solid bodies subjected to various types of loading. The basic objectives of this course are the determination of the stresses, strains and deformations produced by the loads. The main objective of this book is to present the aspects of mechanics of materials in unified and integrated manner. This book is structured to meet the requirements of the course contents of Mechanics of Solids or Strength of Materials for undergraduate students of civil, mechanical and aerospace engineering. It is also a valuable reference for practising engineers and architects. The book covers the syllabi of various universities and AICTE undergraduate curriculum of engineering and solid mechanics. All the chapters are equipped with basic background of the problems and solved examples. Complex problems are illustrated for competitive and university examinations. A number of multiple-choice questions taken from GATE, IES and Civil Services are included in the appendix. Divided in 12 chapters the book broadly deals with the following: fundamentals of mechanics stress and strain of materials body behaviour of material under axial loading normal stress, axial strain, simple tension test, shear stress and strain, and strain energy under impact load analysis of two-dimensional stresses, stresses at a point, Mohr's circle for plane stress and general stress system at a point stress-strain relation of three-dimensional body, plane stress and plane strain, relation between elastic constants and theories of elastic failure applications of stress and strain in practical problems analysis of thin and thick pressure vessels behaviour of solid and hollow prismatic shaft under torsion bending of simple beams, bending moment and shear force diagram Castigliano's method bending normal and shear stresses of beams for different cross sections, unsymmetrical bending of beam buckling of columns for simple columns for different end conditions. …

Hardcover. Etat : New. Etat de la jaquette : New. 1st Edition. Myanmar stands at the cusp of a major political and economic transformation. The change would provide space and opportunity to the Myanmar society, people and external actors to engage in the process. Myanmar's role as ASEAN chair in 2014 is also significant. Still, there are many challenges ahead, like national reconciliation among various ethnic and political groups; socio-economic development challenges; and the role of the military in civil administration. The most crucial test for Myanmar would be the 2015 elections. How Myanmar will deal with all these complex challenges needs to be watched closely. (jacket).…

Hardcover. Etat : New. Etat de la jaquette : New. 1st Edition. Contents: Foreword. Introduction. 1. Evolving India Vietnam strategic partnership. 2. Economic relations : trade investments and cooperation in conventional and non-conventional sources of energy. 3. Evolving security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region: political security and Defence co-operation. 4. Development of a knowledge economy: cooperation in IT, science and technology and related fields. 5. Tracing civilisational links and potential for tourism. Index. Capitalising on shared civilizational links in the form of Buddhist lineage, Cham Kingdom, and anti-colonial movements, India-Vietnam relations are increasingly exuding confidence, boosted by high economic growth, political, security and Defence cooperation, scientific and technological capacity building, enhanced cultural contacts and near identical outlook on global, regional and bilateral issues. Increasing interactions translated into the signing of the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in 2007. The year 2012 has special significance. It was celebrated as the Year of Friendship in India and Vietnam, it marked the 5th anniversary of the strategic partnership and 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The year was also celebrated as the 20th year of India's dialogue partnership with ASEAN. (jacket).…
