In addition to his spell as "Little Beaver," Henry Blair also played Ricky Nelson on the radio version of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." Bobby Blake (Michael James Gubitosi, 1933-2023), of course, after playing "Little Beaver" in 20-odd Red Ryder movies in the mid-1940s, grew up to be television's "Baretta," and starred in the 1967 film "In Cold Blood." He was arrested in 2002 for the 2001 murder of his somewhat creepy second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, was acquitted of her murder in 2005, but was later found liable in civil court for her wrongful death. He was known for his work on the ?I Love a Mystery? and ?Red Ryder? series during the 1940s and 1950s. Bannon is best known for being the last of four actors to portray the fictional cowboy Red Ryder in the long-running B-movie series. Bannon worked sporadically in the 1960s with bit parts on programs such as Sea Hunt, Wagon Train, and Lassie. His final role was a one-time guest spot on Death Valley Days in 1965. Illustrated. Ryder, together with the military force commander Newman and three others were awarded the Victoria Cross. Captain Donald ('The Laird') Roy led a fourteen-man troop of 2 Commando charged with disabling two gun emplacements of the roof of the pump-house, and then securing a bridge to provide an escape route from the docks. Both tasks were fulfilled: Bridge 'G' is now known as 'Roy's Bridge' and Roy was awarded the DSO. Betrayed by a French policeman, Roy was captured, taken to Oflag IX-A Spangenberg Castle and despite two attempts at escape remained a POW for the duration of the war.
