Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page and twenty-four further plates. Collated, complete. Undated, dated from copies held by the British Library and National Library of Scotland. An impressive work of family prayer, containing entries for every day of the year. From significant Church of Scotland minister Daniel Dewar, who acted as the final principal of Marischal College before its amalgamation with King's College to create the University of Aberdeen in 1860. In a contemporary half-calf binding. Externally, smart with slight shelf wear, leading to reasonable loss of leather to the extremities, most visibly to the spine tail and joints. Further light marking to the cloth boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages mildly age toned with light sporadic spotting throughout, heavier to the first and last few pages. Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Apparently signed by Daniel Dewar [not Norman Macleod] in pencil below his name on the title page: "[indecipherable word] Minister of Glasgow, Rev. Dr. Daniel Dewar". Rebound in two volumes, with Gaelic to English in Volume 1, and English to Gaelic in Volume 2. 1007 pages total, moderately age-yellowed. The condition is excellent: slightest wear, slightest dulling of the cloth of the lower spines (apparently from removed labels), slight residue of removed bookplates inside the front covers, otherwise unmarked.
