Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some moderate marking and tanning. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled.

The scarce first edition of The Life of Sir Richard Hill, Bart., the Tory Member of Parliament of Shropshire, written by biographer and naturalist Sir Edwin Sidney. In…the publisher's original blue cloth, with a frontispiece of Hill. An original advertisement of Sidney's previous biography on Rowland Hill to rear. Hill was known for his patronage and writings for Methodists as a Christian revivalist, as well as being a supporter of William Pitt the Younger. As well as writing of his involvement within Parliamentary episodes, Hill's generosity and philanthropic nature is revealed. Sidney previously wrote biographies on Rowland Hill. In the publisher's original blue cloth. Externally, the odd mark to boards and fading to the extremities. Heavy fading to the spine, and slight bumping to the head and tail, and to the extremities. Offsetting marks to end paper extremities. A graze to center of front pastedown from previous bookplate. Minor wear to front end paper hinge. Internally, firmly bound. Slight offsetting from frontispiece to title leaf. Pages are mostly bright and clean with slight age toning. Faint spotting to extremities of final advertisement. Very Good. R.
