Ajouter au panierhardcover. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. The History and Antiquities of the Town of Aberconwy and its Neighbourhood, With Notices of the Natural History of the District, Rev. Robert Williams â" First Edition Publication: Denbigh, Printed for the Author by Thomas Gee, 1835. Formatting: 8vo, pp. xii, 200. Condition Report: Very Good. Bound in an attractive quarter dark red leather over pale greenish-grey cloth boards, the binding remains tight and structurally sound. The spine exhibits bright gilt lettering with only mild rubbing and slight dulling at the extremities. The boards are pleasingly clean, with corners showing minimal wear and retaining their sharpness. Internally, the text block is bright and largely free of significant blemishes, save for some very minor age-related spotting primarily restricted to the preliminary leaves. The hinges are secure, and the endpapers are neat. A notably handsome and well-preserved copy. Catalogue Note: This is a first edition of Reverend Robert Williamsâs comprehensive topographical and historical study of the ancient Welsh town of Aberconwy (Conwy). The work remains a significant early 19th-century resource for regional history, delving into the antiquities, architecture, and natural history of the district. This particular copy presents very handsomely in a nineteenth-century quarter leather binding, elevating it above the more commonly encountered modern rebinds or heavily worn original cloth examples. First editions of this work are uncommon on the open market, particularly when preserved in such an attractive and robust state. A detailed and scholarly 19th-century exploration of Aberconwy, modern-day Conwy in Wales. Written by the Curate of Llangernyw, Rev. Robert Williams, this topographical work meticulously chronicles the rich local history, ancient ruins, and architectural antiquities of the region. Supplemented with notices of the area's natural history, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the heritage and environment of North Wales as observed in the 1830s. N/A (illustrateur). …
