Palmer's now-legendary paranormal-reporting non-fiction enterprise, which began with, in its first issue, Kenneth Arnold's cover account of flying crescents which "skipped like saucers across a pond", an event which, for whatever reason, kicked off the modern era of UFO events. After that, Fate introduced countless events which remain, to this day, fodder for paranormal documentaries and investigation. This Fall 1948 issue - the third issue ever - bears one of the handful of truly iconic Fate covers, that being "The Red River Witch" (see scan). 12mo, illustrated staple-bound wraps, 128 pp. A Near Fine copy - and this one is as near fine as near fine gets, with just touch micro-edgewear and an almost indiscernible degree of color fade as you look toward the spine. Silk Playbill of a Gala Performance by The Royal Ballet staged by Command of Her Majesty The Queen in honour of the state visit to London of President and Madam de Gaulle in April 1960. This glittering Gala Performance at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden took place on the second evening of their visit and was attended by Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, Antony Armstrong-Jones and other members of the Royal Family. The playbill was designed by Peter Hatch and printed by William Clowes & Sons Ltd on British silk. The Royal Arms was drawn by Rex Whistler. The item measures 290mm x 550mm and is folded three times to fit within a red silk covered purple card folder (measuring 290mm x147mm). The Royal Arms are printed in black on the front cover of this folder and programme notes printed on inside flap. The folder was printed by Westerham Press. There is a water/drink (?) stain on the top left hand corner of the front cover and right hand corner of rear of the folder. This has also left a small toning mark on the top left hand corner and left hand margin of the silk play bill (this has not egressed onto the text of the playbill itself). Altogether in VG+ condition - a rare piece of Royal memorabilia. The state visit by the French President took place at a delicate time in European affairs, at the height of the Algerian crisis and when the UK was considering applying for membership of the Common Market.

Between 2-4, 1930's numbers were 17 while in 2020 the number was 18. For the lowest rankings, in 1930 there were 20 cities ranked <2; 2020, that number was 2. Overall, then, the last 7 cities on the 76-city list were listed at 1 per 100,000; in 2020, that number was 4, from 97-100.

Born in Rome, Praturlon (better known simply as Pierluigi) embarked upon a career in photography in 1947. The young paparazzo got his first big story by snapping candid shots of Greta Garbo, who was passing through Rome incognito. Armed with his newfound celebrity, he became an habitue on Cinecitta film sets, and many movie icons, including Frank Sinatra and Sofia Loren, made him their regular photographer. Pierluigi's name is often associated with Federico Fellini's "La Dolce Vita," as he covered that shoot extensively. Inspired by his favorite play, Ben Jonson's "Volpone," millionaire Cecil Fox (Harrison) devises an intricate plan to trick three former mistresses into believing he is dying.
