Many of his maps had no identifying elements but are identifiable by their style which was reminiscent of maps of the 1790's and early 1800's such as those from Scott's Gazetteer and Carey's Pocket Atlas. Closed tear to "Robinson Crusoe" advertising leaf. Minor toning to the directory. Almanac at the rear is more heavily foxed. A very good copy. Spear, p.282. Drake 11820. American Imprint 12142. Containing numerous illustrated advertisements, including one for the "Robinson Crusoe Hotel," which features a woodcut of Crusoe in a fur outfit and sun hat. The almanac contains, among various other items, a Jewish calendar and a four-page directory of masonic lodges in Pennsylvania.…

[26], x, 240, [8], 64 pp., illus., advts., folding table (20" x 17"). In 19th century morocco with corners and marbled paper over boards. Skillfully rebacked in leather with most of the backstrip laid down. Boards are generally rubbing. Binding is solid. Contents are generally but lightly rippled and toned with occasional light tidelines. Folding table is in fairly good condition but for some misfolding and a few closed tears; the paper remains supple. Very good condition. Spear, p. 282. Drake 11766. Interesting 19th century advts. including one for the Independence Hotel on Chestnut with terms for accommodations and meal offerings. And another for the Philadelphia Museum with an engraving of a Mammoth skeleton.…
