Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good Plus. First Edition, First Printing. Cleaver, a radical political activist and Black Muslim leader, spent most of the 1960s in prison, where he wrote his revolutionary, "Soul On Ice." The writings, speeches and interview collected in this volume are after his release from prison while he struggled to deal with the limits of his probation and what he saw as his duties as a black political leader. The work was collected and edited by Robert Scheer, who worked with Cleaver at Ramparts Magazine during this period. Aside from some light soiling on text edges, text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows a two-inch tear in the top edge of the front panel near the spine, as well as a couple of smaller edge tears and minor creasing. The large tear has been tape-repaired on the obverse by a previous owner. While torn, the dj is whole -- not tattered or with missing chips. It is not price-clipped. A solid reading/study copy.

"Pigasus, also known as Pigasus the Immortal and Pigasus J. Pig, was a 145-pound (66 kg) domestic pig that was nominated for President of the United States as a theatrical gesture by the Youth International Party on August 23, 1968, just before the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. The youth-oriented party (whose members were commonly called "Yippies") was an anti-establishment and countercultural revolutionary group whose views were inspired by the free speech and anti-war movements of the 1960s, mainly the opposition to United States involvement in the Vietnam War. Yippies were known for using dramatic theatrics in their demonstrations, and they used Pigasus as a way to mock the social status quo. At a rally announcing his candidacy, Pigasus was confiscated by Chicago policemen and several of his Yippie backers were arrested for disorderly conduct" (from Wikipedia).

As collectible as this issue of this internet history icon title can get, and in fact in a form that many people who had a copy never did have it. See scans. Now defunct, Yahoo! Internet Life (use of "Yahoo!" was licensed to publisher Ziff- Davis) was known for pushing the edges a bit in its field - which was, specifically, shining a light ahead on the internet railroad - during its brief life (late nineties - 2002; there would be only five more issues after this one). Ziff-D brought in name contributors to do that. Besides the thick title section, topics inside include those 20 Biggest Internet Scams, Gadgets That Do All; Sexual No-Nos Online; Rating the Music Services; Basketball Net Guide, Internet Fashion, Roger Ebert (Critical Eye), Angela Gunn (Net Ethics), Robert Scheer (Privacy Watch) much everything that was cool about the internet at the time. More, of course. Highly collectible genre piece, in pristine condition. For your hardcopy Cyber-Internet History Library. Your friends definitely will never have this. See all scans.
