Water colour over graphite drawing, signed lower left. Although undated, this is very similar to works dated 1930-1935. Visible area 45.5cm x 30cm. Under passe partout (sealed into this from behind) and under glass in a wooden frame with a little handling only. The water colour is in very good condition, and clearly signed. There is a touch of paint remnant to the top right edge. An attractive portrait of a dancing nude. The frame is 67cm x 51cm. Odilon Roche (18681947) was a French artist renowned for his work as a watercolourist, draftsman, and painter. Roche's work included water colours, wash paintings, and drawings, often characterised by delicate and detailed execution. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Roche had a multifaceted career. He worked as a wine taster, colour merchant, and antiquarian specialising in 18th-century and Persian art. His works include lithographs and signed pieces such as "Musiciennes antiques" and "Port Issol," which reflect his mastery of both pencil and watercolour techniques, both of which he utilised in this piece. .…
