He had prepared manuscripts for a two volume autobiography before he passed. J.P. Regan edited the two volumes into this 200 page book. A few b/w photos accompany text. Read more about : drawgear, downpours, puncheons, Helot-treatment,white poplars, Chipman hay camp, Edmonton Trail, stage station, range horses, pie tickets, and prairie fires. The Roe family arrived at their Blackfalds (Alberta) district homestead in 1894. Cond : Paper wrapper is brown with yellow-orange lettering. Barnyard scene on front cover involves four horses and thirteen chickens. Bright, tight, square, and clean. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Minimal wear, minimal soiling. Quote (p. 98) : " Plenty of snow in the bush also meant a better chance among the dead fallen trees which lay underfoot in al directions and which would snap a softwood runner like a matchstick if one crossed it with a load. In those days, while walking or driving through the woods, we were constantly on the alert for crooked trees suitable for curved sleigh runners. Happy were we if ._._._. .' Size: 8vo.
