Volume 1 of this journal was first issued in 1915. The run of the journal offered here begins with volume 12 issued in 1928 Volumes 12-23 each contained 12 numbers (no. 1-12) sold monthly by subscription. Volume 24 has only 8 numbers (no. 1-8). Volume 25 contains only 2 numbers (no. 1-2). The final part of this journal was issued in January 1942. At that point, due to WWII, the journal ceased to be published. Three supplements accompany this work. Bound in at the end of volume 12 is "Diseases of Aquarium Fishes," volumes 17-18, no. 10-17, 65 pages (1934). At the end of volume 13 is "Fish Foods and Feeding Methods," volume 17, no. 4-9, 47 pages (1939). Finally at the end of volume 18 is "Progressive steps in amateur Fish Culture (Exotique)," volume 16, no. 1-12, 88 pages (1932-1933). Publication of a second series of Aquatic Life and the Aquatic World, not offered here, commenced in 1951. This second series is being offered separately. No ownership marks and few signs of use. As the editor, August Roth, was 84 years of age when the 50th anniversary issue was published, it appears the second series of this journal ends with that issue. The final number states this is the "Oldest aquarist's magazine in the English language." It is also states that this is the "Oldest aquarist's magazine in America, Est. 1915."
