B/w line illustrations of falconry equipment. A second-hand stapled paperback - corners turned & with many signs of wear. "The Committee of the British Falconer's Club believes that there is a definite need for an easily available and simple treatise on falconry, suitable as a guide for beginners in the sport. There is no modern [1949] or relatively modern book on falconry, published in Britain, which in the view of the Committee is suitable for the complete beginner under conditions which prevail today. Moreover, such books as there are have to be sought in the second-hand market and are often expensive. The Committee considers that every beginner should learn the rudiments of falconry by training at least one kestrel, and should not be lead astray by the advice, given in several otherwise admirable books published at or since the beginning of the century that the beginner should start with a merlin or even a peregrine. The present handbook has, therefore, been compiled to meet this need, and as an answer to the beginner's question: 'How should I start falconry?'" .
