Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. 471 pages indexed. Inscribed To Manuel Lujan Former U.S. Congressman,Statesman and Model for American Hispanics. With fond regards. Dolph Adolph B Saenz 5/7/02 Book is clean with white pages and is well bound. Small abrasions to corners and slight scuffing on both covers that is difficult to see in the scans. The OPS Story approaches the Cold War with a well-considered balance of history, personal drama and experience. The violence, suspense and excitement are totally nonfiction. The communist quest for world domination aided by ideologues in America ranged worldwide. It was subtle and clandestine and cost many lives. Many of the Americans serving in the Office of Public Safety (OPS) died serving their country, defiled by communist propaganda and betrayed by self-serving politicians and ideologues.Adolph Saenz was an active participant in the Cold War struggle for over two decades and he recounts the history of United States' police assistance to foreign countries to help them combat communist aggression. He tells the story from a personal perspective, his own experience, and from a human side. As an American Hispanic from New Mexico, he blends well into the Latin American cultures that he works in. Despite the treachery of Cold War politics, he is an effective OPS officer and is accepted by his Latin American police and military counterparts as an ally. He is a constantly a potential target for terrorists and kidnappers, and his work is considered to be dangerous as per U.S. Government records. His replacement is kidnapped and assassinated by Marxist terrorists. His assignments take him to Bolivia and Che' Guevarra, to Uruguay and the Marxist Tupamaro terrorists, and to Colombia where he faces a deadly kidnapping cartel in Cali. Inscribed by Author(s).

Trade paperback. Etat : Good. [8], 190, [1] pages. Notes. Illustrations. Cover has some wear and soiling. The author was the former New Mexico Secretary of Corrections. Adolph Saenz, the author of two books, The Ops Story And Politics Of A Prison Riot, was appointed Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Corrections two days before the bloody prison uprising of 1980 in Santa Fe. He retired from Federal Service after 30 years. He served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer and in high level law enforcement positions in the U.S. Treasury Department and U.S. Customs Service. He has served in four wars, as an underage U.S. Marine in WWII, as a USAF Intelligence Officer in the Korean War, and as a Foreign Service Officer in the Cold War and the Iraq War. He was acknowledged as an expert in kidnapping investigations by the U.S. Department of State and in counter-terrorist operations. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's degree in Bus Admin and a Masters degree in Pub Admin. On February 2, 1980, the Santa Fe Penitentiary erupted into the bloodiest, most savage prison riot in U.S. history. What caused the 1980 nightmare and was there nothing that could have been done to stop the inmates' savagery? Many books have been written about the murderous rampage that happened at the New Mexico State Penitentiary in 1980. However, only Adolph B. Saenz's book is the only one that offers a political perspective on this tragic event. Politics of a Prison Riot, Vol. II represents the most comprehensive and accurate account of the 1980 bloody uprising that took place in the Santa Fe, New Mexico State Prison and is valid history. "The shocking details on the violence and the politics are true. This new account provides the raw data on the brutality of the prison uprising with no holds barred. The story may be offensive for some and controversial for others but it is well documented. After all, I was there," shares Saenz. First Edition [stated], presumed first printing.

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Bloodiest Prison Uprising in US Penal History provides lessons for present-day institutions involved in American corrections. This is the untold story of the man in charge, who was intimately involved in the bloody prison uprising, and how he later suffered the politics of the uprising. Nominated as Secretary of Corrections two days before the New Mexico State Prison near Santa Fe exploded with violence on February 2, 1980, author Adolph B. Saenz was deeply involved in ending the prison insurrection, but not until thirty-three inmates died and more than two hundred others were injured. The murdered inmates and their killers are identified, along with the corrections and state officials who were involved in the prison debacle. The problems and politics of dealing with a mass prison uprising are described in graphic detail, even as the book resonates with present situations and problems in American prisons.
