Otherwise, a very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a lightly soiled and moderately chipped and edgeworn dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in clear archival Brodart sleeve. Uncommon. OCLC (No. 2822584) locates less than a dozen copies at institutions worldwide, all but one of them at U.S. seminaries, and the other at Australian Lutheran College in Adelaide. ~SP23~ A snapshot of the 'state of the art' in Lutheran Sunday Schools in the heartland of America in 1928. The publisher's description: 'The author clearly defines and firmly fixes the real aim of Sunday-school work, describes the needed equipment, states the qualifications of teachers and officers, discusses manners and methods of teaching and closes with a cheery word of encouragement in view of the blessed results of Sunday-school work. The treatment is informal, genial and charming, yet intensely serious. There is a refreshing absence of technical terms and scientific phrases, making the book delightfully readable in all its parts and intelligible to teachers who are not familiar with pedagogical and psychological terms.' He served in various capacities for the American Lutheran Church organization, including vice president from 1936 - 1944.
