Vielmehr besitzt das Badehaus-Ritual einen besonderen thematischen Fokus: den verhassten, verunglimpften, von Schadenzauber und Feinden bedrohten Konig, der selbst Schuld auf sich geladen hat. Das Ritual zeigt damit ein Bild des Herrschers, das dem von Monumentalarchitektur und Konigsinschriften gepragten Erwartungshorizont der mesopotamischen Konigsideologie nicht entsprach: den kontraintuitiven Konig. Im rituellen Kontext kann die Defizienz der koniglichen Person thematisiert und uberwunden werden. So dient das Badehaus-Ritual nicht zuletzt der Stabilisierung der koniglichen Herrschaft.
