Etat : molto buono. 2 parti in un vol. in-4 (207x133 mm), ff. (20 n. num.), 222; 125, (1, con impresa tipografica), figure in xilogr. n.t. che raffigurano strumenti agricoli, schemi di semina, misura dei campi ecc.; legatura settecentesca in pergamena, titolo in oro su tassello in pelle al dorso, tagli spruzzati d'azzurro. Rista…mpa dell'ediz. giuntina del 1515, curata e filologicamnte commentata da Niccolò Angeli e basata, con qualche correzione, sull'Aldina dell'anno precedente. Vi si raggruppano tutti gli antichi autori di opere concernenti i lavori agricoli e tutto quanto ha attinenza con essi e con i prodotti della campagna, include quindi anche la gastronomia, l'enologia, la meteorologia, la misurazione del tempo, ecc. Gli ultimi ff. preliminari recano una dedica di Aldo Manuzio al lettore contenente una lunga e puntuale spiegazione della divisione dei giorni e delle ore secondo quanto scrive Rutilio Palladio nella sua opera ("De duobus dierum generibus, simulque de umbris et oris, quae apud Palladium"). In questa edizione vi è poi l'aggiunta del commento di Giulio Pomp. Fortunato al libro X "De cultu hortorum" di Columella, con le note del Beroaldo. Marca editoriale silografica al frontespizio e alla carta finale di ogni trattato.Bella raccolta di quattro testi antichi e di tre autorevoli commenti umanistici. Con la locuzione "De re rustica" si indica un vero…e proprio genere letterario della letteratura latina. L'elogio della vita di campagna come esempio delle antiche virt?, la possibilit? di vivere con agio grazie alla corretta amministrazione dei propri possedimenti agricoli e la necessit? morale di fornire il sostentamento per la citt? di Roma, confluiscono a formare questi antichi manuali di agronomia. Il processo di concentrazione terriera nelle mani di pochi privilegiati, generando la fine della piccola propriet? contadina, creÚ un terreno fertile per tale produzione letteraria, indirizzata al ricco proprietario che vive in citt? e affida la gestione della villa di campagna (l'azienda agricola) a un fattore, di condizione servile, riservandosi di ispezionarla personalmente di tanto in tanto. E' proprio in questo contesto storico che nascono i trattati di Catone (234-149 a.C.), Varrone (116-27 a.C.), Columella (4-10 d.C.) e Palladio (IV secolo d.C.). Interessanti anche i commenti dei tre umanisti, per il loro aspetto filologico in Merula e Vettori e per quello pi? pratico in Beroaldo, che annotÚ gli antichi trattati di agronomia per l'utilit? effettiva degli agricoltori suoi contemporanei.Buon esemplare, con minime mende alla legatura.
