Etat : Near Fine. First edition. First edition. 5 full-page illustrations, 63 pp. 8vo. Published in the final year of prohibition, with many fond notes about the time before (certain wines "always make me think of music, for in the days before Prohibition, one always found them at garden parties") and the time to come ("New York State Champagne and Sparkling Burgundy were extensively sold before Prohibition and no doubt will again be available"), Stringer's work mentions every aspect of the consumption of wines, from the best available varieties and their longevities, to glasswear and cocktails that can be made with fortified wines and brandies. In addition to sections on French, German, Spanish, and Italian wines, there are sections on US and South African wines. Red paper wrappers, stamped in silver and side-stapled. Some shelfwear, but near fine 5 full-page illustrations, 63 pp. 8vo.
