Grey cloth silver titled to the front, landscape format 38 x 29cm, in original colour illustrated dust jacket featuring a route map crossing Transjordan, Jebel Shammar, and Iraq. 22p printed on art paper with several vintage b/w and modern colour photos and maps. Dust jacket near fine, lightly shelfworn. Covers very good, bumped to bottom corner. Interiors near fine with light creasing. This is an invitation to a "Mrs Hart" from Studio Lambert on behalf of BBC One to star in a docu-drama about Gertrude Bell in a "new landmark series". "In the Footsteps of. This book invites you on an epic adventure to relive parts of Gertrude Bell's landmark 1913-1914 Arabian journey across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. Atop a camel you will adventure in her footsteps.". It includes the itinerary with captioned map (starting at the RGS, taking in the above countries, her parental home in Durham, the British Institute for the Study of Iraq, the V&A (for a Gertrude Bell makeover), and her archives at Newcastle University. Probably dating between 2008 when Studio Lambert was formed and 2010 when conditions in the region started to deteriorate, there is no evidence of this programme being made, and it may have been shelved. (BBC One used the same name for an occasional series about Biblical characters (David Suchet on St Paul (2012) and St Peter (2015) and Kate Bottley on Judas (2016)), and made a short non-dramatised piece on Bell in 2015 (Inside/Out, presented by Helen Berry), which coincided with the release of the film Daughter of the Desert). Miss Hart is not identified - perhaps Miranda Hart. Extremely rare - no other copies or references traced, likely for in-house circulation.
