This catalogue dates from after the acquisition of the Sterling firm and name by Marconiphone in 1926; the reference to the Irish Free State in its list of overseas sales representatives places it before 1938.…

A catalogue of telephone receivers and switchboards by French manufacturer Picart-Lebas, who established their Chateaudun factory pictured on page 1 in 1917. An ink stamp to the foot of the page advices a 40% increase (in price) from the first of August 1928, from which we have approximately dated this copy.…

Revised price-lists loosely inserted: 2 copies of one dated June 1st, 1920, 1 copy dated May 1st 1922 (both single folded sheets making 4 pages), one single-page printed letter advising of price-raises dated 29th May 1920, Cables and Wires trade prices leaflet dated May 20th 1920, a single folding sheet making 4 pages printed on blue paper. An undated catalogue from the Sterling Telephone and Electric Company: The front endpapers show a drawing of their Dagenham works, which was opened in 1910, and the included price-increase circulars dated 1920 and 1922 refer to the 11th edition catalogue (this being the eighth). The firm was sold to Marconiphone in 1926. …

A telephone catalogue issued in sections with a ?Simplico? metal-clip binding; this one contains the sections on telephone handsets, private telephone exchanges, and miscellaneous telephone apparatus. The preamble directs customers for their sales office to the Colindale Underground Railway Station (opened August 1924) and contains reference to their manufacturing site at Hendon Aerodrome (given up in 1934) giving us an approximate date.…

Original blue cloth, paper only to front board printed in blue, spine lettered in black. Binding a touch soiled, spine a little sunned. A substantial catalogue from the the manufacturing unit of the International Bell Telephone Company, which had been founded in Antwerp in 1882.…

12mo, pp. 274, [1]. Numerous illustrations, some full-page, included within pagination. Contemporary red textured cloth, front board and spine lettered direct in gilt. Some leaves vertically creased, one leaf proud from textblock. A little marked, a touch rubbed to extremities. Ownership inscription of Leonard C. May dated 1893 to flyleaf, his initials lettered in gilt to front board, small ownership stamp of A. N. Emmerson to pastedown. A seemingly unrecorded production, identified in a pencilled note on the pastedown as an internal course for employees of the National Telephone Company. The creasing and single larger leaf containing a close-trimmed illustration suggest that it was issued unbound, but then the initials ?L.C.M.? on the front board, with lettering matching that on the spine, indicate it was also bound for the original owner, Leonard May - indications it was not published in normal fashion, at least. The date of May?s ownership inscription is likely that of the production: The National Telephone Company was formed in 1881 and absorbed into the GPO in 1911. We have been unable to trace any copies in any institutions worldwide, which is unsurprising for an internal training document, although the BT Archives hold the company's papers and possibly a copy. The contents are divided into 14 papers, with continuous pagination and no title-page. As befits the early days of telephony they comprise a detailed treatise on electrical engineering, with lengthy sections on batteries, electro-magnetism and acoustics.…
