Large octavo, 287 pages, index, illustrated with 64 coloured plates which are all present. The gilt on the front cover decoration is still bright and attractive but the spine has faded and the top half edges are torn. Internally the pages are browned and foxed and there are few relevant pencil notes, however the plates are clean and bright.…

Includes the bookplate of Isaline Blew Horner, the distinguished Pali scholar and later President of the Pali Text Society. A desirable association copy, linking Edwardian botany with twentieth century Buddhist scholarship. Original cloth binding. Boards clean with light rubbing at extremities. Spine sound and firm, with minor softening at head and tail. Corners gently bumped. Text block clean and tight. Occasional light foxing, mainly to preliminaries and plate margins.
