Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. First Thus. The 33rd book in the Oz series & the final one written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, who brilliantly carried on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the lovely illustrations of artist John R Neill throughout the book's 272 pages. Orig. published in 1939 (to coincide with the release of the movie that same year), this is a modern reprint (after the early 1970s per ISBN) by Books of Wonder, in softcover format, but retaining the original text & artwork. An Ex-Lib copy (with the usual stamps & markings), condition is nonetheless VG: pages white & unmarked, binding strong & straight, exterior colors bright. Spine call number removed, but bar code remains on rear, trapped under library clear plastic topcoat applied to book, which is split in places (looks fine, feels uneven in places). Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. O'Neill, John R. (illustrateur). …

Hardcover. Etat : Poor. No Jacket. First Edition First Printing. The 20th book in the Oz series & the 6th in the series written by Ruth Plumly Thompson (the 2nd "Royal Historian of Oz"), "founded on & continuing" the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the original illustrations of artist John R. Neill 261 pages of paginated text, along with the decorative endpapers & colorful front paper pastedown. Orig. published in 1926, this is a First or extremely early printing of that FIRST EDITION, meeting the criteria for the perfect vs broken type on pages 21 & 252 identified by Hanff & Greene (p. 93), along with all other points. Of the original 12 full-color inserts (1 frontis + 11 internal plates on glossy paper), 2 are missing, 2 are detached, $ 2 are loose. The rest are lovely, with some tanning/soil/spotting to some of the margins. Octavo (6.75" x 9.25") has "drab" green cloth-covered boards with a colored paper pastedown to front cover & black lettering & design to spine. Condition is Poor: heavy soil/bleached area to rear board, tearing of cloth at front hinge, fraying at both ends of spine, corners heavily bumped with loss. Front pastedown has nicks & rubbed spots, small area of sticker pull to top-fore edge side corner. Text block secure, but shaky, both hinges cracked & reglued. Hard to find with the original color plates, if you can overlook the condition. No DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. Neill, John R. (illustrateur).…

The 17th book in the Delightful Stories of the Wonderful Land of Oz & the 3rd book in the series written by Ruth Plumly Thompson (the 2nd "Royal Historian of Oz"), carrying on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the original illustrations of artist John R. Neill (who would become the 3rd Royal Historian) throughout the book's 291 pages of text, as well as the endpapers & front pastedown. Orig. published in 1923, this is a later printing of that First Edition (post-1935 per DJ design & other points), with NO color plates. Hardcover 8vo has bright orange cloth-covered boards with a brilliantly colored paper pastedown to front cover & black lettering & design to spine (fancy publisher script, not plain, but plain on DJ). Condition is Near Fine, as the book has been protected in its DJ all these years: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages modestly tanned around edges. Sticker from the old Marston's bookstore in San Diego to ffep, else completely unmarked. "This Book Belongs To." box in front matter is blank. Very mild dust dulling to outside page edges & a random smudge here & there in text. Front pastedown is virtually flawless save for a tiny scratch to bottom edge & a bit of dark soil to top edge. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $1.75 price intact to front flap) is just Good: colorful & bright, but with a long tear (closed on reverse) descending between the w" & "a" in "Cowardly" in title all the way down through the lion's face & across"Baum" to outer edge; other small chips, light creases, & short, unclosed tears, as well, but it's all there & scarce in any condition. Orig. published in 1924, this is a later printing of that First Edition (post-1935 per DJ design & other points), with NO color plates. Hardcover 8vo has dark brick-red cloth-covered boards with a brilliantly colored paper pastedown to front cover & black lettering & design to spine (fancy publisher script, not plain, but plain on DJ). Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages modestly tanned around edges, former owner's name in pen to ffep & old gift inscription dated 1950 in "This Book Belongs To." box in front matter. Light smudge to margin of title page & some tiny spots to fore edge; else unmarked. Front pastedown has a few chips to edges & book shows mild rubbing to extremities, lightly bumped corners. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $2.00 price intact to front flap) is VG-/Good+: colorful & bright, but with many small chips, light creases, & short, unclosed tears. Nicely protected in new clear mylar cover Free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
