In 1934 he graduated from Graphic Industry School in Warsaw (Szkoła Przemysłu Graficznego) with speciality an illustrator-litographer; in the years 1934-1939 he studied painting at The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, which he completed in 1939 at the studio of Professor Mieczysław Kotarbiński, in the years 1935-1936 he also took up studies at the Municipal School of Decorative Arts of in Warsaw, a degree obtained in 1936. Since 1945 he was a lecturer of high schools of arts located in Warsaw and Łódź, from 1952 to 1985 he was connected with The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and he ran the Department of Poster, since 1966 as a full professor. The master and tutor of many famous poster artists, he is the most acknowledged and appreciated Polish poster designer.
