Commissioned by the First Edition Club in London, it remains a highly regarded resource for bibliophiles. Tomkinson provides essential information, including lists of books printed, typefaces used, and notable production details, often accompanied by facsimile reproductions of title pages and colophons. With an Introduction by B. H. Newdigate. Limited edition of 1000 copies - appears on a prelim. There are some pencil references to the printing but they are not clear.This copy is printed by The Woodlands Press. On the last page is a small oval red stamp with 'Kensington Public Libraries' and the back cover has a circular gilt, round library stamp'. The book is in three quarter pale grey paper covered boards and light tan linen-effect cloth with black title field with gilt titles to spine and black library call number on the tail end. The boards are firm, flat, a little grubby and with slightly crushed spine ends. The end papers are lightly tanned; there is an attractive bookplate on the front paste down, the word "Heffer' in pencil on the front free end paper and the gusset of the rear end papers is split. The text block is tightly bound and even, the prelims are a little tanned and some pages have light foxing; the cut edges are slightly tanned and the tail edge is deckled. The copyright page has a feint, small red oval library stamp and library call number. Not annotated. Good plus condition. Rare. Without jacket.…
