Both sides had resorted to nuclear warfare, which left the landscape a radiation-ravaged wasteland. The invaders didn't care about the desolation, all they required from Earth was a stopping-off place for their starship battle-fleets. A large alien garrison was established within a protective force-dome, while the surviving Earthmen were left to fend for themselves in the radio-active wilderness. All resistance and fight was beaten out of the surviving Earth people who were left in abject poverty to scrape a living, until along came - The Freedom Fighters:- (original cost £0.20).

There was no way of landing without dropping part of those shields, and that meant certain annihilation.
